What our customers say

How does spider control in Melbourne actually work?

A spider treatment is a surface job, not a fogging job. The spiders that matter live in fixed places: black house spiders in window frames, weep holes and eave lines, redbacks under outdoor furniture, in meter boxes and along fence rails. So the webbing is cleared first, because product landing on old silk does nothing, and then a residual goes onto the surfaces the spiders sit on and walk across. It keeps working for months as they move over it. Two honest notes: you will see more spiders for a few days as treated ones come out into the open, which is the treatment working; and no treatment makes a property spider free, because spiders live in the garden and always will. What it does is cut the population on the building right down. Call 0436 389 114, seven days.

First, which spider

Web builders and wanderers behave differently

Almost every Melbourne spider call is one of two problems, and they are not solved the same way.

One group builds in a fixed spot on your building. The other wanders in from outside and never settles.

  • Black house spider. The messy funnel webbing across window frames, weep holes and eaves. It stays put, which is exactly why a residual treatment works so well on it.
  • Redback. Tangled web in dry, sheltered, undisturbed spots: under outdoor furniture, in the meter box, along fence rails, inside a barbecue. Treated directly by hand.
  • Huntsman and white tail. Wanderers. They do not build on the house, so the answer is a treated perimeter plus door seals and screens rather than more spray indoors.

What is included

Spider Pest Control Melbourne: what the job covers

The treatment goes where spiders sit and walk, which is mostly outside the house rather than inside it.

Eaves, weep holes and window frames

The black house spider builds in exactly these places. A residual applied to the frames, weep holes and eave lines is what actually reduces the numbers.

Webs knocked down first

Treatment lands on the surface, not on old web. We clear the webbing so the product reaches where the spiders sit and rebuild.

Redback harbourage

Under outdoor furniture, in the meter box, along fence rails, inside the barbecue and around the letterbox. These are checked by hand, not guessed at.

Garage, shed and subfloor

The quiet, dry, undisturbed places where numbers build without anyone noticing until a box gets moved.

Entry points advised

Door seals, weep hole screens and gaps around pipework, because most indoor spiders walked in through one of them.

A written report

What we treated, where the harbourage was and what to keep clear. Useful for a rental or before a property goes on the market.

House, garage and outdoor areas treated in one visit.

The one people worry about

Redback spider control around a Melbourne home

Of the spiders on a suburban block, the redback is the one worth being deliberate about.

They do not want to meet you either. The trouble is that the places they like are the places people put their hands: under the outdoor setting, inside the meter box, along the underside of a fence rail, in a barbecue that has not been used since autumn, behind the pot plants by the back door.

A general perimeter spray does not reach a spider sitting under a chair, so those spots get checked and treated directly.

  • Outdoor furniture, play equipment and decking undersides.
  • Meter boxes, letterboxes and utility covers.
  • Fence rails, retaining walls and stacked materials.
  • Barbecues, garden sheds and anything stored against a wall.

Worried about redbacks near the kids? Get those spots treated properly.

How a job runs

From your call to a clear eave line

No surprises, and no price that changes once we are on site.

STEP 1

Tell us what you are seeing and where

Webbing across the window frames, a redback in the meter box, or something large indoors. Each one points somewhere different.

STEP 2

We inspect the harbourage

Eaves, weep holes, frames, garage, shed and the outdoor furniture. The webbing tells us where the population actually sits.

STEP 3

Fixed price before we travel

Quoted on the property and what you describe, unchanged when we arrive.

STEP 4

Webs cleared, then treated

Old web knocked down so the residual reaches the surface, then applied to the harbourage and the perimeter.

STEP 5

What to expect afterwards

You will see more spiders for a few days as they move through treated surfaces. That is the product working, not failing.

Every step above runs on a fixed price, quoted before we travel.

Cost

Spider control cost in Melbourne

The number comes down to how much building there is to treat and how much webbing has to come down before anything is applied.

A single storey house with a clear eave line is quick. A double storey with a big shed, a carport and a season of webbing is not.

Either way you get the price before we travel, and it does not change once we are there.

  • Size and height. More eave and window line means more to treat, and second storey access takes longer.
  • Outbuildings. Sheds, garages and carports can be included or left out, and we will tell you what each adds.
  • How much webbing. Clearing months of build up is part of the work, not a tidy up at the end.
  • Redback harbourage. Hand treating furniture, meter boxes and fence lines takes time but it is where the risk sits.

Get your own number, not a range. Quotes are free and fixed.

Questions

Spider control questions, answered

How quickly can you treat spiders in Melbourne?
Usually the same day where a slot is open, seven days a week. If it is a redback somewhere a child or a pet uses, say so when you call and we will treat it as urgent. Call 0436 389 114.
Will this make my house spider free?
No, and anyone promising that is overselling it. A treatment sharply reduces the population living on and around the building, and keeps working for months as spiders cross treated surfaces. Spiders from the garden will still wander in occasionally, because they live outside and always will.
Why do I see MORE spiders just after treatment?
Because they are moving. A residual does not kill on contact the way a can of spray does, so treated spiders come out of the harbourage and die in the open where you notice them. It usually lasts a few days and it means the product is doing its job.
What about redbacks?
They sit in dry, undisturbed places with a messy web: under outdoor furniture, in the meter box, along fence rails, inside a rarely used barbecue. Those spots are checked by hand and treated directly, because a general perimeter spray does not reach a spider sitting under a chair.
I found a white tail indoors. What should I do?
White tails hunt other spiders rather than building webs, so they wander indoors and are usually found in bedding or clothing left on the floor. Reducing the web building spiders around the house removes what they are hunting. If anyone is bitten and reacts badly, that is a matter for a doctor rather than a pest technician.
Is the treatment safe around pets and children?
Yes, with a keep-off window while it dries. We tell you which areas to stay clear of and for how long, usually a couple of hours, and we avoid fish ponds and vegetable beds.
What does spider control cost in Melbourne?
It depends on the size of the building, how much eave and window line there is and whether the garage and shed are included. You get a fixed price before we travel.
