What our customers say
Filmed by our customers, not scripted by us.
How does dead animal removal in Melbourne actually work?
The job is finding it. Almost nobody knows where the animal is, and the room that smells worst is often not the room it is in, because air moves through a building. A technician narrows it down using smell intensity through the day, fly and maggot activity, and staining on plaster or cornice, then reaches it through the roof void, the subfloor or an existing access point. Cutting is a last resort, and when it is needed we mark the smallest opening that will reach it so you are patching a hole rather than rebuilding a wall. Two things come after the retrieval and both matter: the blowflies, maggots and carpet beetles it has drawn in are treated, because otherwise you get a second problem a fortnight later, and the cavity is neutralised rather than sprayed over. Call 0436 389 114, seven days.
Usually same day. Call and describe the smell.
Why the smell is never where you think
The single most useful thing to know about this job is that the room that smells worst is frequently not the room the animal is in.
Air moves through a building, and a cavity can vent into a room two doors away.
- Roof voids. The most common, especially for rodents and possums. Heat accelerates everything, so a summer one is advanced within days.
- Wall cavities. The hardest, because access usually means cutting. Rodents fall down a cavity and cannot climb out.
- Subfloors. Common in older housing and usually the easiest to reach without damage.
- Ducting and behind appliances. Overlooked, and a frequent answer when the smell only appears with the heating on.

No idea where it is? That is normal. We will find it.
Dead Animal Removal Melbourne: what the job covers
Getting the animal out is the visible half. Treating what it attracted and neutralising the space is the half that decides whether it is really over.
Locating the source, not guessing
Smell intensity, fly activity, staining and heat all point to it. We narrow it down before anything is opened up.
Retrieval from the cavity
Roof voids, wall cavities, subfloors, ducting and behind appliances. Most of them are somewhere awkward, which is why they were not found sooner.
The smallest possible access
Where it sits behind plaster we mark the smallest cut that will reach it, so you are patching a hole rather than rebuilding a wall.
Treating what it attracted
Blowflies, maggots and carpet beetles arrive within days. Removing the source without treating those leaves you with a second problem.
Deodorising the space
Neutralising the cavity rather than spraying something floral over the top of it, which fades in a day.
Finding out how it got there
One dead rodent usually means a live population. We check, and tell you what needs sealing.
Located, removed, treated and neutralised in one visit.

The flies and beetles a dead animal brings, and why they outlast it
Plenty of people get the animal out themselves and then ring us a fortnight later about something else entirely.
A carcass is a food source, and it attracts a sequence. Blowflies arrive within a day or two and lay, maggots follow, and once those have finished the carpet beetles move in for what is left. Beetle larvae then spread out from the cavity into the room and start on wool carpet, rugs and stored clothing.
So removing the source is half the job. Treating what it attracted is the half that stops the second phone call.
- Blowflies within a day or two, then maggots in the cavity.
- Carpet beetles afterwards, which move out of the cavity into the room.
- Beetle larvae damage wool carpet, rugs and stored clothing.
- All of that is treated as part of the job, not quoted separately.
Removed it yourself and now have flies? We can treat that.
From the smell to a clear room
No surprises, and no price that changes once we are on site.
Call and describe the smell
Which room, how strong, and how long. Also tell us if you have seen flies gathering at a particular spot, because that is the best clue there is.
We narrow down the location
Roof void, wall cavity, subfloor, duct or appliance. Getting this right is most of the job.
Fixed price before we travel
Quoted from what you describe, and it does not change when we arrive.
Retrieval and treatment
The animal removed, the insects treated and the space neutralised, in the one visit wherever we can.
What caused it
We tell you whether there is a live population and what needs sealing so it does not happen again.
Every step above runs on a fixed price, quoted before we travel.
Dead animal removal cost in Melbourne
The price follows the access rather than the animal. Reaching it is nearly all of the work.
You get the number before we travel, based on what you describe, and it does not change once we are there and have found it.
- Where it is. An accessible roof void or subfloor is straightforward. A sealed wall cavity is not.
- Height and access. Second storey and tight cavities take longer.
- How long it has been there. A longer run means more insect treatment and more neutralising.
- Whether there are live ones too. We will tell you, and quote that separately rather than folding it in quietly.
Get your own number, not a range. Quotes are free and fixed.
