What our customers say
Filmed by our customers, not scripted by us.
How does bird control in Melbourne actually work?
Bird work is exclusion work. The aim is to make the space unavailable rather than to chase the birds, because a cleared roost that is left open is simply reoccupied within weeks. So the sequence matters: clear the nesting material and fouling, treat the void for bird mites, then close the opening. Skipping the mite treatment is the common mistake, because once the birds leave the mites go looking for a new host and that is usually the room below. Species decides what is lawful. Feral pigeons, starlings, house sparrows and Indian mynas are introduced and can be managed directly. Native birds are protected under the Wildlife Act 1975, so for those the lawful answer is exclusion only. The most common Melbourne job by far is the cavity under solar panels. What is lawful depends on which bird it is
This is the part that decides everything, and it is worth getting right before anyone climbs a ladder.
Some of the birds causing trouble on Melbourne roofs are introduced. Others are native and protected, and the approach is completely different.
- Feral pigeon. The usual culprit under solar panels and along commercial parapets. Introduced, and the bulk of what we do.
- Common starling and house sparrow. Introduced. They nest in eaves, vents and wall cavities, and they bring mites with them.
- Indian myna. Introduced and aggressive about cavity nesting sites, often taking over vents and roof spaces.
- Native species. Protected under the Wildlife Act 1975. We do not interfere with the birds or an active nest. The lawful answer is making the space unavailable.

Bird Nest Removal Melbourne: what the job covers
Clearing a roost is half the job. Closing it so it cannot be reoccupied is the half that lasts.
Solar panel proofing
Mesh clipped around the panel edge so pigeons cannot get into the cavity underneath. Fitted without drilling the panels or touching the wiring.
Nest and debris removal
Old nests, feathers and droppings cleared from the roof space, gutters and panel cavity, because that is what blocks drainage and draws insects.
Roof line and ledge exclusion
Spikes, netting or mesh chosen for the ledge in question rather than one product used everywhere.
Gutter and valley clearing
Nesting material in a valley or a box gutter is a water ingress problem waiting for the next storm.
Mite and insect treatment
Bird mites leave a nest looking for a new host once the birds go. The void gets treated, not just emptied.
A written record
What was removed, what was fitted, and which species were involved. Useful for a strata report or an insurer.
Clear, treat and proof, all in one booking.

Pigeon removal from under Melbourne solar panels
If you have solar and you can hear something above the ceiling, this is almost certainly it.
The gap between a panel and the tiles is warm, sheltered, hidden from predators and completely undisturbed. Pigeons find it quickly. What follows is nesting material blocking the roof drainage, droppings building up on the tiles, heat held against the panels, and mites working their way into the ceiling below.
The fix is edge mesh clipped around the panel perimeter. No drilling into panels, nothing touched electrically, and the cavity cleared and treated before it is closed.
- Cavity cleared of nests, feathers and droppings.
- Void treated for bird mites before anything is sealed.
- Mesh clipped to the panel frame, not drilled or glued to panels.
- Gutters and valleys checked for nesting material that blocks drainage.

From your call to a closed roof line
No surprises, and no price that changes once we are on site.
Tell us what you are seeing
Birds under the solar panels, nesting in a box gutter, or roosting on a parapet. Species and location decide what is lawful and what works.
We identify the species
Feral pigeon, starling, sparrow and Indian myna are introduced. Native birds are protected, and for those the answer is exclusion only.
Fixed price before we travel
Quoted on the roof line, the access and the proofing required, and it does not change on the day.
Clear, then proof
Nests and fouling removed, the void treated for mites, and the opening closed so it cannot simply be reoccupied.
A check afterwards
We come back to confirm nothing has found a way around the work.
Every step above runs on a fixed price, quoted before we travel.
Bird proofing cost in Melbourne
Bird work is priced on access and on how much roof line or how many panels have to be closed, rather than on the birds themselves.
You get the number before we travel, and it does not change once the ladders are up.
- Access and height. Single storey is straightforward. Multi storey, steep pitch or a commercial parapet is not.
- How much to close. Metres of roof line, or the number of solar panels around the perimeter.
- How much clearing. Years of accumulated nesting and fouling takes time to remove and treat.
- Hardware. Marine grade fixings cost more and are the only sensible choice near the coast.
